About
Welcome to Sunset Fried Chicken Sandwiches, your new go-to spot for delicious fried chicken sandwiches nestled in the vibrant heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill. Located at 1518 11th Ave, this hidden gem operates within the cheerful confines of Rachel's Ginger Beer, creating a unique culinary experience that blends comfort food with a hip, casual atmosphere.
As you step in, the allure of golden-brown fried chicken fills the air, and the friendly vibe invites groups and families alike. Sunset Fried Chicken Sandwiches offers an array of menu options that include not just tantalizing sandwiches but also tasty sides like fries and fried green tomatoes. And if you're looking for a fresh crunch to accompany your meal, their salad options, like the Kale Salad, are sure to satisfy.
The standout here? The sandwiches, of course! Patrons rave about The Picante, a spicy fried chicken sandwich adorned with jalapenos, cabbage slaw, and a zesty spicy mayo. This sandwich strikes the perfect balance of heat and flavor, ensuring that every bite is an adventure. For those who enjoy a classic, The O.G. sandwich, featuring juicy dark meat, embraces the essence of homemade goodness that is both moist and satisfying. The toasted bun complements the thick, crispy chicken patty, allowing you to fully appreciate the luscious taste of the chicken—the true star of the meal.
However, not everything on the menu is a home run. While the sandwiches receive rave reviews, the fries have drawn some mixed feelings. Some customers felt they were overly fried, leading to a less-than-ideal texture. If you're contemplating sides, you might want to explore the fried green tomatoes, which have garnered praise for their remarkable crispiness and flavor—definitely a notch above your run-of-the-mill fried offerings.
Sunset Fried Chicken Sandwiches also offers catering services and the convenience of accepting credit cards. With options for lunch, dinner, and even late-night cravings, they’ve truly established themselves as a versatile dining option. Need something to wash it all down? While drinks must be purchased separately from Rachel's, a refreshing ginger beer perfectly complements the meal.
In conclusion, Sunset Fried Chicken Sandwiches promises a delightful culinary experience centered around fried chicken perfection. Don't miss the chance to explore this charming eatery. Whether you’re a fried chicken aficionado or just in search of a new favorite lunch spot, you’ll leave satisfied, though perhaps with a newfound craving for their iconic sandwiches. So next time you're wandering Capitol Hill, remember to stop by and treat yourself to something delicious!
“ Solid spot for fried chicken sandwiches! Located in Rachel's Ginger Beer on Capitol Hill, there's a window where you order at, yet can sit anywhere within the shared space of RGB. Menu is straightforward with a few different chicken sandwiches, a salad, fries, with a variety of dipping sauces. I ordered The Picante, a spicy fried chicken sandwich with jalapenos, cabbage slaw and spicy mayo. For a side I had the Cajun Fries and Ranch as my dipping sauce. My friend had The O.G. sandwich and Fries with a Spicy Mayo sauce. It didn't take long for us to get our grub and first thing's first - the sandwiches looked oh so good! There's just something about a thick cut of chicken, breaded and crispy, ready for sacrifice. I enjoyed my sandwich, The Picante! I love spicy food, so would recommend for anyone who wants a spicy option as the heat was tolerable yet distinct. I really liked the jalapenos that came with, added some nice pickled flavor. The soft bun was also nice for the thick chicken patty, making it easy to really taste the flavor of the chicken and not so much the bread. Fries on the other hand, were disappointing. They were overly fried, which I didn't think was a thing 'til I tried the fries here. Since they were sooo crispy, texture was stiff, so really missed the softness from the potato that you expect with fries. Same thing with my friend's classic fries. Not sure if they just forgot to take the fries out of the fryer or if they're normally like this, but I would be hesitant to order them again here. Cajun seasoning was quite light, too, so would not pay an additional fee for these fries again. I'll stick with the classic, if I get the fries again. Come here for the fried chicken, duh! I'd actually like to try the Kale Salad next time with the chicken since it has anchovy sauce, which is a plus for any caesar-like salad. But I won't be as wiling to get the fries since they were so disappointing during my visit. It's cool though. Chicken dinner is the winner here. ”
“ Legit amazing fried chicken sandwich! The location is a bit confusing as it shares a space with Rachel's Ginger Beer. I've been going out to lunch in this neighborhood for the past 5 years and never knew Sunset was here. They need a sandwich board out front to advertise! The OG sandwich was so moist and delicious. The meat was thigh meat, not breast meat and it had the appearance and taste of something homemade with lots of love! The sandwich came with a toasted bun, coleslaw, cilantro and pickels. Yum. I like pickels, but honestly didn't like them in this sandwich. The fries were double deep fried and as amazing as the sandwich. You can't order drinks from Sunset. So the only drawback from the shared space is the double transaction if you want something to drink with your meal. The decor was pleasant and welcoming. The fresh indoor plants are a great added feature. ”
“ Great chicken sandwich, the young lady taking the orders could be a little happier although when the chicken is this good I guess you can sport and attitude. Everything is made to order so prepare yourself for the wait. Parking is a challenge so you may need to circle the block a few times. would have given it a 5 although the employee was the result of the 4. ”
“ Sunset Fried Chicken is a small pop up restaurant inside Rachel's Ginger Beer. There's a little counter in the corner of the store where you order and they'll bring your food out. The menu is small with a few versions of their fried chicken sandwich and side dishes. I shared the Picante sandwich which has spicy fried chicken, jalapenos and chili mayo with hush puppies and fried green tomatoes. The fried chicken is damn good. Nice and crispy. But honestly the bun isn't doing the chicken any favors. It's just a generic burger bun like you'd get the grocery store. At over $8 it's pretty pricey for just the sandwich. The real star of the meal was the fried green tomatoes. I've never had fried green tomatoes that were so crisp and flavorful. Usually the breading is soggy and falling off. Not the case here. I even took the leftovers home and reheated them in a skillet and the were just as good. Spicy mayo dipping sauce was awesome. Hush puppies were also pretty good and a nice portion size. If you haven't had hush puppies they're basically seasoned deep fried corn balls. Who doesn't like that? They don't offer any drinks, but you should get a ginger beer since you're at Rachel's. I got a peach ginger beer that went nicely with the meal. Service was quick and efficient. It's basically fast food, so don't expect to be waited on. I was there during the day and there seemed to be only one person working and they were rarely at the counter. Probably prepping/cooking in back. No big deal. If you need service, just ring the bell. Got to try that General Tso's sandwich next time! ”
“ Monica and Rachel with another winning combo. How do they do it? Tortas and Montana. Chicken and RGB. It's just heaven. The space is gorgeous. Very open and charming. I went around sunset, so it was filled with light and a gentle breeze from the open front. All I needed was a hammock. While my partner ordered our drinks - I had some special cocktail with Thai basil, she had a mule - I ordered an OG, a GT and some fried green tomatoes from the window. Both drinks were good and not too sweet. The chicken sandwiches were indeed amazing. Great crispy fry, juicy dark meat chicken, toasted buns, and great sauce. But the GT was the winner. After we swapped bites, I definitely wished I'd gotten the other. Having grown up in NC, the fried green tomatoes were what brought me in, in the first place. I love them dearly and without space to grow my own, I always have to wait until the end of the tomato season to snag some at the farmers market. Be warned that they are served HOT and the watery tomato inside is lava. I'm a little less a fan of cornbread coating on my FGT's but these were delicious and made me think of home. ”
“ Love at first sight, thanks to instagram. I have been anticipating these fried chicken sandwiches ever since I laid eyes on that perfectly filtered pic my friend posted during their opening week. Luckily, I was able to find a few friends to check out SFC's fried chicken sandwiches. It did not disappoint at all. Located inside of Rachel's Ginger Beer on 12th, SFC's counter is the furthest away from the main entrance. There are two long tables near the counter, which makes it an ideal place for group gatherings. I ended up getting the OG chicken sandwich with a fried egg on top, as well as a kale salad. Let's start with the kale salad: the portion is ideal for sharing. Having this to myself with a sandwich was filling. I thought the kale salad was pretty good and light on the dressing. As for the chicken sandwich, it was glorious. The chicken had a nice crisp to it and juicy. There's nothing I dread more than overcooked dry chicken so you won't experience that at SFC. Best part was that it was thigh meat, not breast meat, so it definitely delivers flavor. I also tried my friend's fries, and those honestly can be listed within my top 5 favorite fries. The dipping sauce is not even needed to enjoy them. That is how good those fries are. Currently, they only have a limited menu out but we were told that they should be coming out with more items within the next couple of weeks. I can't wait to check out that rumored chicken slider sampler! ”
